Apple MacBook Touch RumorWith the iPhone's phenomenal success and its 3G model creating waves, rumors of a MacBook Touch is bound to happen. After all, since the iPod line from Apple has also received the touch treatment, why not the MacBook? Word has it that such a device will be out this October, featuring the similar multi-touch format found on the iPhone and its 3G version. It will be powered by the full Mac OS X so that you won't miss out on any functionality. Well, I can't confirm this rumor at press time, but I surely will be able to wait till October to see if this post holds any water or not. What do you think?

Opening docx files on Mac

Posted by: Mo J. Al-Mughrabi 1 Comment »

If you are not running Mactopia (Mac::Office) you will come across couple problems specially when it comes to opening docx. With the regular TextEdit you can view the content but if there is any tables, graphics, charts..etc it might not appear as it was with Office.

From my experience, I came to two nice solutions the first one is a pretty simple web based converter that you upload the file too and its will convert and email you a doc version of the file (docx-converter.com) yet, this service is not efficient. After I submitted the file it took 4 hours to be received in my inbox, my favorite method is to use NeoOffice its free and can run all doc format. The look and feel might be a little different but its very reliable and easy to use.

If you have other tools to suggest please don't hesitate to mention them on the feedback/comment form,

Since we started this community I've been avoiding straight attacks thinking they might change their direction one day. but, last week I experienced something very annoying to learn with both iCity and Mac&More.

In the past week, I thought of adding more value to the community by bringing in some offers from the companies in the region. Perhaps, not even an offer if they would just cooperate with us and tell us their "secret" pricing plans. so we can publish it for individuals who's planning to make the switch, I was simply seeking one of the Mac resellers in Kuwait to cooperate with nothing in return!

I got in touch with Mac&More store & asked for the company manager number. When I got in touch with him and I introduced myself as the founder of KwtMac, he promptly said "we already have a website!" with an attitude. Well, I tried to explain further that we are not to replace their website and we are just a community with almost 3,000 members interested in publishing information about how to buy a Mac in Kuwait or if you want to go the extra mile maybe you can arrange an agreement with offers to the community. Then, he was asking me to leave my number and someone will get in touch with me today about this issue. With iCity it was the same story, different people, different attitude, The only thing they have in common that they both did not call back.

It is very sad how these companies think about growth without contributing anything in return. A company is often built by the hands of the people and back to people they should give their hand, It is the consumer who make such organizations build up rapidly, so am writing this entry out of disappointment. Am writing this article to tell both iCity and Mac&More that they have underestimated us therefore we will refuse to sign any agreement with them not now, not in the future. I will also make sure to forward this article to the concerned people at Apple.com & local papers and perhaps they would have an input about this subject.

God bless,
Thank you

MobileME is up and it is beautiful

Posted by: Mo J. Al-Mughrabi No Comments »

It took Apple enough time to release the MobileME promise. Last night I tried to access my mac.com account and for some reason the site was under maintenance, immediately I thought maybe they redirected mac.com accounts to MobileME but when i checked it was not working. Today, I tried going to www.me.com and I got the login screen and when i tried to use my mac.com account it opened and I was able to see my emails and start syncing. Am really thrilled to see what this new thing has to offer and how its will help me keep my stuff sorted and safe. so, if you have .mac account you must give it a try :)

Have a good day every one,

UPDATE: Recently, i managed to sync email boxes as well but so far its only doing it with .Mac and .Me accounts any other emails you have defined in your clients won't be synced.
