Bento from FileMaker
Am really a fan of FileMaker products, they are very creative and they make things easy for developers to create a database solutions for Mac & other OS. But, they have released a new product to even make things easier for small business owners or even for your personal use. The new Bento gives you access to certain information on your exiting machine such as your address book, iCal, Tasks and much more.
From Bento you can create new databases and choose to use elements from your existing local services for example you can create a database and call it Projects and link it with your address book in a way that you can assign certain tasks to certain contacts & every update you do on your contacts will reflect inside Bento.
It is very simple and very easy, usually to build a basic form to store informations such as names, emails, notes..etc would take me at least an hour and half with PHP for example plus that will involve a lot of coding, with Bento it took me 2 minutes to create the entire thing and I didn't have to do any coding what so ever. Although, the simplicity of Bento has its price because it was designed in such a way that will not allow any coding to be attached to forms or fields. So, even if you decide to add your custom code to perform a certain action that is not built-in, you might get stuck!
I also ran some testing since I downloaded it last week, like inserting and retrieving Arabic characters and it was doing fine with Arabic. Well, I guess that's it for now..
Have a cool week every one,
