The unfortunate business agreement (iCity & Mac&More)
Since we started this community I've been avoiding straight attacks thinking they might change their direction one day. but, last week I experienced something very annoying to learn with both iCity and Mac&More.
In the past week, I thought of adding more value to the community by bringing in some offers from the companies in the region. Perhaps, not even an offer if they would just cooperate with us and tell us their "secret" pricing plans. so we can publish it for individuals who's planning to make the switch, I was simply seeking one of the Mac resellers in Kuwait to cooperate with nothing in return!
I got in touch with Mac&More store & asked for the company manager number. When I got in touch with him and I introduced myself as the founder of KwtMac, he promptly said "we already have a website!" with an attitude. Well, I tried to explain further that we are not to replace their website and we are just a community with almost 3,000 members interested in publishing information about how to buy a Mac in Kuwait or if you want to go the extra mile maybe you can arrange an agreement with offers to the community. Then, he was asking me to leave my number and someone will get in touch with me today about this issue. With iCity it was the same story, different people, different attitude, The only thing they have in common that they both did not call back.
It is very sad how these companies think about growth without contributing anything in return. A company is often built by the hands of the people and back to people they should give their hand, It is the consumer who make such organizations build up rapidly, so am writing this entry out of disappointment. Am writing this article to tell both iCity and Mac&More that they have underestimated us therefore we will refuse to sign any agreement with them not now, not in the future. I will also make sure to forward this article to the concerned people at Apple.com & local papers and perhaps they would have an input about this subject.
God bless,
Thank you

You know, I’m not shocked or surprised!! Sadly, this is the unprofessional Arabic mentality!! No one thinks for the best of business, they look at it from personal point of views!! and that’s really sick…no matter how we try to act in a professional way, others will always misunderstood it, because they have never experienced the joy of really achieving things together for the benefit of everyone…they don’t think in a win-win situation…They always want to be winners, however, they’re not acting like it!
Well dear, you are right…we’re better off getting offers from online resources rather than dealing with them!
July 18th, 2008 at 6:38 pm
Yup, I personally think they have missed out on a great opportunity. I was offering them a huge marketing plan and for free, but the same exact mentally you are talking about is always suspicious & am sure when I spoke to them about my offer they immediately assumed am looking to get a benefit from this plan.
Any who, Lately there have been talks and plans to build up the KwtMac store and add more items that are more Mac related. This plan might involve installment of payment gateway such as KNet & much more options. Am planning to outsource the store (only) to an investor that would use it for his/her own benefit and in return he must sell products with competitive prices so we can help distribute Mac & make it more handy.

That’s the way of doing things man!
with you all the way guys…and in sha’a Allah, since you’re planning is so steady and professional ma sha’a Allah…believe me…you’ll reach the success you were targeting…
All the best!

i remember when i went to icity when we first start this site to sell them spaces, I’ve gave them a really good presentation with statistics & numbers.. as soon as i have finished, the marketing manager went like: amm could you unlock my iphone please? i was @#$#%*!! btw i know the guy very well but he didn’t gave a dam about my offer, only he was thinking about unlocking his two phoneS & he was like we will give ur offer a look sometime!! btw they don’t even have a website! apple must be in creative & Enthusiasm hands not some wannabes guys
July 18th, 2008 at 11:44 pm
That’s really a very careless attitude!! hmmmm, guess dear, you don’t need to waste your valuable time with such people…you & Mo. are already doing your best to really build up this community and the store…you’re doing all well eL7amdellah. And as long as you believe deep within about what Apple is and you know how it should be represented, then you’ll succeed.

July 20th, 2008 at 9:10 am
AppleFreak, most of us are living in Kuwait as well.. I didn’t offer them space on KwtMac.. I asked for cooperation, in terms of giving us pricing lists so we can publish them for people planning to make the switch to Mac, or creating special offers for the community.. so, basically, I was trying to give them an opportunity to do something good
July 20th, 2008 at 9:11 am
AppleFreak, nope we do not work for anybody… we are an online community we just assist people who made the switch to Mac & we do publish articles related to Apple in general and Apple-in-Kuwait specificly.. i guess

July 20th, 2008 at 10:02 am
Well, what to do next is not the problem but what ever we are going to do its will not be talking to them again. As I said the community is online for quite sometime and has been doing great.. we might though look for more sponsors that offer mac products.. we might we might not.. who knows
July 20th, 2008 at 12:08 pm

July 23rd, 2008 at 10:43 pm

July 23rd, 2008 at 10:46 pm
Dear Moe..
i have some question to ask you and something to say
1-when you came to iCity and had a meeting with the marketing manager?
2-second who told you that iCity doesnt have a website? check their ads and find the website http://www.****.com and you can order online from the website and pay by wireless Knet and they also have facebook group and help all the group members.
3- about the iphone it is Apple USA who didnt send it to kuwait and it will be in kuwait so soon.
4-icity always offer help for all mac users and for mac switcher they even have a weekly presentation about Mac and ilife every friday and saturday with a very professional guys.
also they always make special offers for kuwaity students, for kuwait youth…. and you can know that by asking the marketing managers all the universities of kuwait.
finally i dont think that an apple reseller will underestimate a mav community maybe it is a kind of miss understand follow up with them or maybe it is an internal policy for them and for mac and more( by the way it is digits now).
July 23rd, 2008 at 10:49 pm

July 23rd, 2008 at 11:29 pm
Apple_User, first of all there is no need to tell me that this was not a reply for me for one thing because i wrote the damn thing lol.. we are not used to neglecting other’s opinion and if you have one we will just let you freely say yours as long as you are not redirecting traffic ;)..
second, are you a community member of iCity or you are an iCity staff? third, since when iCity has news? you mean the news that they released iPhone 10 years after its announced in the State with double the price?
This community built not just by me, we are group of Mac lovers formed together. there are high school students and college boys & girls, my purpose was to help this layer in specific to get their mac with the lowest rates possible..

Exchange the two store names for any similar stores in UAE and the story could pretty much be applied to our experience at EmiratesMac. Businesses simply don’t see any value/need in working with communities like ours. Seems you’re having an impact in Kuwait though, that’s great!
July 27th, 2008 at 10:38 am
i didnt read all the comments but , Apple_User,
