How to run eGo on Leopard Mac OS X
Recently I've received many requests asking me how did I get the eGO device to run on Leopard. so, here is the steps in the simplest way possible.
1. First of all, remove the SIM card from your eGO device and insert the SIM into your mobile phone. Then, according to your phone model you have to disable the PIN code authentication at the beginning. If you don't do this step successfully you won't be able to connect.
2. You will need to download the driver, you can do so from Zain website (here) or from KwtMac (here).
3. Once downloaded the driver, extract the files inside and you will see the following files eGOApp.zip, eGOconfigurationguide.doc, eGODriver.gz.
4. Click on eGODriver.gz to extract its content, its will create the following folder HuaweiDataCardDriver-2.7
5. Open it, and start installing the package you require if you are on Intel or PowerPC.
6. Once you are done from the installation, plug in your eGo device and wait until the blinking light on your eGO turn from green to blue.
7. Now, go and run eGOApp.zip its will extract another file HuaweiDataCardApp
8. Run HuaweiDataCardApp, write hspps and hit configure.
9. Exit the HuaweiDataCardApp
10. Now, go to System Preferences then to Network on the left side you will see a new port appeared "Huawei"
11. Click on it, and go to advanced, at Vendor choose "Other" and then at Model choose "HUAWEI Mobile Connect - 3G Modem"
12. Click Ok, and then write *99# in the "Telephone Number" and write hspps in both "Account name" and "Password"
Another way to do this is by using Nokia default modem, here is the steps for that
7. Now, go to System Preferences then to Network on the left side you will see a new port appeared "Huawei"
8. Click on it, and go to advanced, at Vendor choose "Nokia" and then at Model choose "GPRS (GSM/3G)" and write hspps in the APN field
9. Click Ok, and then write *99# in the "Telephone Number" and write hspps in both "Account name" and "Password"
Finally, if things doesn't work out for you post your questions here and hopefully someone will get to your query soon.

what should i do if i dont get the “Huawei” in the network side?? i just got the blue light now

taboolz, please start a thread at the forum and write down the problem so me and other users can help you out. If the blue light when on that means the eGO picked up the GSM/3G signal but it doesn’t mean that your mac is seeing the eGO as a modem.
Can you start a thread and tell us what exactly you are seeing in the Network side bar? list the interfaces you are seeing there and hopefully we will be helping you out…

Not working for me. My problem is constant with every driver, after a certain time the eGO becomes very hot and stop working. I have to unplug and plug again and works for a time. Any idea? 10.5.2 MacBook Pro.

Szabolcs, I don’t think if the eGO heats up its supposed to disconnect. there are times when my eGO becomes dangerous to touch :), yet it doesn’t disconnect. I think, this is related to the place where you are connected from, maybe there is thick concrete around you which is causing the signal to be lost.
Did you try being in open doors or in a different room?

Actually, I tested with Windows on a ThinkPad and with them it never happens. The only application I experienced it with Skype on OSX. With Skype/Windows it doesn’t disconnect. Maybe a bug…

Yousef, it is very satisfying to know someone got the benefit of this article. Usually only the ones who couldn’t setup the eGo leave a comment:)..

http://www.huawei.com/mobileweb/en/file/download.do?f=19957&ctype=1
This file did it for me, no need to disable pin, just install it, its called mobile connect from Huawei (the company that makes the ego device for Zain). I’m running Leopard, on MacBook Pro. Just follow the steps to setup the connection (worked with HSDPA too)
