AutoComplete list

This might sound lame, but I just found out that when you are typing in TextEdit and press ESC key in the middle of a word its will drop down an auto complete list. Too bad it doesn't work on Safari or firefox otherwise it would be really helpful for blogging, if you want to see full size image click here.

Adobe labs - air applications

AirTalkr

Few days back I got an SMS from Mr.boSaud about something that really grabbed my attention. Adobe are launching a new line of cross platform (operating systems) environment, Its called AIR Runtime and it can be downloaded freely from adobe labs website here. I didn't go in details about the Adobe Air but the most interesting part I read so far that applications developed using Adobe Air are some how written using HTML, Ajax, Flash and Adobe Flex and the result will be a desktop applications. Unlike the Java runtime environment which require you to code your application using Java.

The photo attached in this article is for AirTalkr application, I downloaded earlier and its not that bad. The application is very simple it allow you to access your IM (Yahoo, MSN, Google talk) also it has another tab in which you can list youtube video's, search them and watch them without having to launch your web browser. You can also click here for a whole list of available applications so far and most of them you can download and start using freely.

The point of this article is not to point fingers at iCity or Mac&More that they will rip you off when your hard drive die. In fact, the main reason am writing this article is because earlier today my brother's macbook crashed, his first instinct was to fix it at iCity and they asked for 80KD to replace the current drive with a 120GB, off course I told him no way it costs that much.

Now let's break it down, a 120GB-SATA (CGate) will cost you 18KD or even less, with a 1 year warranty. If you are into more space you can go for 350GB for 45KD to 50KD. Hmm, that's leave us to how would you replace the old hard drive with the new one. I tried looking up tutorials online and i found one that will guide you step by step on how to remove the old drive and replace it with the new one, I just emailed him the link and he did it entirely by himself. Yet, he is not technically strong.

The video embedded above, you will see how to upgrade your hard drive without losing data. In our case, we are mainly concerned for the last part in which he demonstrated how the hard drive was replaced.

KwtMac store, the first step

Posted by: Mo J. Al-Mughrabi 13 Comments »

This might come very unexpected to all of you, but recently I've been thinking of this a lot and implementation was probably the toughest part. Yes, KwtMac store is a whole new section will be opening tomorrow 21st of May at mid night to accept orders and deliveries within Kuwait. The main reason for the store is to support KwtMac in all terms, for the time being the store will only sell tee shirts with KwtMac logo printed on the front (Logo & URL). This off course might expand into a larger category upon success from other apparels and different designs but they will all fall into the scoop of Mac and Kuwait.

This off course is a very big step but its another step toward KwtMac growth. Income will be used to create more items in the store, arrange for sessions related to Mac and off course wearing a KwtMac apparel is just another way of spreading the word.

Tomorrow at mid night we will link up the store for public to place orders, the current in stock tee shirts will be limited. so, its will be first come first serve..
