I got my own WWC copy (please do not ask me to share my dmg file) of Leopard and I had a taught experience installing from a dmg file. So, I'll try to explain in here how to install using your available resources.

You could install the dmg using an external hard disk (must be 8GB or more), install using double layer DVD or create a partition and use it to boot and install from your machine.

Using external hard disk

NOTES
If you are using G4 (iBook) or G3 and your external hard disk USB port then do not waste your time. In case you are on G4 or G3 and in order to boot from your external drive your drive MUST have firewire port. If you are using G5 or G4 (Macbook) then you won't have problems booting from USB hard drive you can continue with these steps and it should run smoothly.

1. Double click on the dmg file to mount.
2. Go to Applications -> Utilities -> Disk Utility
3. Randomly click on any mounted device from the left, then click on Restore from the tab. In the source drag the dmg file and in the destination drag the external drive to boot from. Tick on erase destination (this will format your external drive) then click the Restore button (see image for more clear picture).
4. Once this step is over, make sure eject the mounted DMG file. This might confuse you in choosing which to boot from in the final step.
5. Then to start installing, go to System preferences and to Startup Disk. Click on the disk you want to boot from and click on Restart.

That's it

(Disk Utilities example)

Partitioning hard disk and booting from it

NOTES
In order to do this step you must download iPartition it is NOT free software you will have to purchase it. iPartition comes with three applications (iPartition, iDefrag, Corilols CDMaker) you will need the three applications to complete this installation. Also you will require a blank CD or DVD to write on using Corilols CDMaker.

Caution: Make sure you have a backup of your hard disk before you start with any of these steps. Errors are likely to happen and if so your data will be lost.

Creating the parition

1. In order to partition your hard disk you must be booting from some where else. Because you will not be able to partition a busy drive.
2. Insert your blank CD, open up Corilols CDMaker choose your option and start burning.
3. Once its finishes successfully, restart your machine (CD inside) hold the "C" key and wait until it boots from the CD.
4. Then you will see only two applications is there (iDefrag and iPartition) start with iDefrag by running a defragmentation on your hard disk.
5. Once it's done, click on iParition and double click on the pie shape in the middle, its will expand and allow you to move the cursor. Give at least 8GB space for the new partition, click Go to start partitioning.
6. Restart your machine, eject the CD and login using the normal mode into your Mac.
7. Now, you will see two drives the old and new one you just created.

Installing from the partition

1. Double click on the dmg file to mount.
2. Go to Applications -> Utilities -> Disk Utility
3. Randomly click on any mounted device from the left, then click on Restore from the tab. In the source drag the dmg file and in the destination the new partition you created. Tick on erase destination (this will format your external drive) then click the Restore button.
4. Once this step is over, make sure eject the mounted DMG file. This might confuse you in choosing which to boot from in the final step.
5. Then to start installing, go to System preferences and to Startup Disk. Click on the partition you created and click on Restart.

Pac-Man, brings back the memory

Posted by: Mo J. Al-Mughrabi No Comments »

PACMAN

If you were born before 1990, you must know what is it like to play Pac-Man again. The japanese arcade game was released in the U.S in 1980 and developed by Namco. I was surprised to realize I've not posted anything about Pac-Man yet.

You will find a great collection of this game nowadays on the web. Yet, there is one in specific which took my attention "Pac the man X" runs smoothly on Tiger and has a Pac women character. You can read more about it or get your copy free at mcsebi
